Phone not connecting to the Computer

Usually this is because the device is set to connect as a network device. Change this on the device to being a usb/serial device. You do this by going to:
Start->Settings->Connections->USB to PC->Untick Advanced Network Functionality
 
Also it is worth checking that Active Sync is correctly installed on the computer.
